5 Things to Do on Monte di Mezzocorona

May 7, 2025

Reading time: 1 Minute and 53 Seconds

A green plateau, suspended at an altitude of 891 meters, overlooking the vineyards of Rotaliana Königsberg: Monte di Mezzocorona is a peaceful, car-free place where you can slow down and enjoy the outdoors. In spring and summer, it's the ideal destination for a day trip.

Here we suggest 5 unmissable experiences:

1. GO UP BY CABLE CAR

In just 3 minutes, we take you from the historic center of Mezzocorona to the top of the mountain with one of the steepest cable cars in Europe. Ascend 622 meters of vertical drop while the landscape opens up to vineyards and the surrounding mountains. The cable car will be open until September, and a round-trip ticket costs €8.00 (50% discount with the Trentino Guest Card). Please note: long waiting lines may form on weekends.

2. TASTE TYPICAL DISHES

Once at the top, just a few steps from the cable car arrival point, you'll find two restaurants: Tre Cime and Ai Spiazzi. Here you can taste traditional Trentino dishes such as potato tortel, strangolapreti (bread and spinach dumplings), and game. The wine list is also full of local labels produced by small wineries in the area. Stopping here is an excellent idea if you want to recharge your energy after a beautiful walk in the open air, but also if you are looking for an authentic culinary experience.

3. WALK IN THE VOID ON THE SKYWALK

The Skywalk is a panoramic terrace 17 meters long, 14 of which are suspended in the void. The transparent flooring allows you to see beneath your feet: 648 meters separate you from the valley floor! An exciting panoramic point to observe the entire area, with a view of over 180°. Illuminated at night as well, it's easily reachable in just a 5-minute walk from the cable car arrival point. It's free and accessible all year round.

4. CROSS A 123-METER-LONG SUSPENSION BRIDGE

At an altitude of 920 meters, a steel cable bridge accompanies you above the Val della Villa. 123 meters long, with about 120 meters of empty space beneath your feet at the central point, it's a challenge to experience with steady legs and an open heart. Overcome your fear of heights, step by step, and share the adrenaline with friends or family. From Monte di Mezzocorona, you can reach it in a 20-minute walk, following the white and red SAT (Società Alpinisti Tridentini) signs. It's free and accessible all year round.

5.  STROLL IMMERSED IN NATURE

If you are looking for an easy walk, we recommend the path that leads from the Monte to Bait dei Manzi: a 40-minute walk along a slightly uphill and downhill dirt road that leads to a bivouac with various picnic spots surrounded by the woods. On the way back, you'll also cross the suspension bridge.
From the Monte, the trail also leads to Malga Kraun, at an altitude of 1200 meters. It's a simple route, also suitable for families, 4.5 km long with a 343-meter elevation gain (please note: the malga is currently closed).
