Looking at the expanse of vineyards and woods that rise up the hill of Faedo, you notice the Castle of Monreale (or Königsberg) that stands out like a sentry.
It once dominated the Piana Rotaliana from above and the ancient border between the Tyrolean domain and the Trentino lands.
This strategic stronghold has in fact hosted important dynasties (from the counts of Tyrol, to the Königsbergs, to the Habsburgs) and has been a transit point for travellers and direct traders between north and south.
Today you can admire it from the outside, recognising the hexagonal tower and the crenellated wall, the last evidence of a castle that has undergone numerous renovations over the centuries.
The interior still preserves cycles of frescoes from the Renaissance period. Being owned by the Castel Rametz Winery, you can visit this manor only on special occasions, such as FAI days, Open Palaces or during events.
