Considered the king of Trentino wines, it represents the first and smallest varietal DOC recognized in Trentino in 1971.
This indigenous grape variety originates from the Campo Rotaliano (Mezzocorona, Mezzolombardo, Grumo di San Michele a/A), where it has been rooted since the 1300s.
It has an intense ruby red color and releases aromas of wild blackberry, blueberry, and violets.
When young, it pairs well with rustic dishes and cold cuts; when aged, it enhances game, braised meats, and aged cheeses.
